Well, we
did it again – we purchased a collection of 31 pieces of antique
mechanical music. A few really special opportunities, and many bargains
suitable for retail resale. Check out the enormously impressive Symphonion Chimes (we’d be happy if that stuck around here for a very
long time!), the restored Regina 20 ¾” Changer which is very scarce and
desirable, and the neat Wurlitzer “Happy Days” all original 1015. ASH-4 Mahogany Stella Grand 15 ½” Disc Music Box, Single Comb. Mahogany cabinet, has base cabinet which is a nice fit but is not a disc cabinet. Two broken teeth. One comb screw missing. Plays very nice. With ten discs. Excellent original condition. $2,300
ASH-8 Mermod Freres 14 ¾” Cylinder Box with Chinamen Striking Bells and Organ! It is unusual and great fun to find one of these bell boxes with Chinamen to strike the bells – in this case there are three Chinamen striking six bells. But it is really unusual to find one of these that also has an organ section! And manufactured by a fine Swiss company like Mermod Freres. Twelve tune, one broken tooth, tips missing on bell teeth and this bell section of the cylinder needs repinning.. Strikers currently non-functional because of the broken tips. Cylinder plays fine and otherwise in very good general unrestored condition but organ is not playing. Needs a full mechanical restoration. Tune sheet. A wonderful opportunity. You won’t find another, I know we have not had another of this scale and complexity in this Mandarin format. $6,250 ASH-9 Oak Mermod Freres Interchangeable with Four 14 3/4” Cylinders and Decorated Case. Beautiful light oak case with unusual and highly decorative applied metal decorations in many places on the case, a fine example of one of Mermod Freres’ better models. Six tune. Restored – six replaced teeth (fair), three replaced tips. Needs damper work. Combs have been polished, has had some pitting. Unusual “Change At Will” mechanism. Very pretty with drawer in case and brass handles. Cylinders 14 ½” by 2 ½”. $4,750 PRICE REDUCED! [SOLD]
ASH-11
Cylinder Music Box With Very Long 22” Cylinder.
Unfortunately this has about six broken teeth on one comb and twelve
on the other comb. Lovely inlaid case. Double zithers. Very unusual
to have a cylinder this long. $2,200 PRICE REDUCED!
ASH-14 Ten Tune Large Cylinder Music Box With Six Bells. 13" cylinder, six bells (three of the bells are incorrect), one broken tooth. Minor mechanical problem with ratchet wind. Ten tune. Missing glass internal cover. Otherwise good original condition. $1700.
ASH-16
Orchestral Paillard 11” Cylinder with Six Bells and Drum. Eight
tune, restored, ASH-17 Twenty Tune Music Box with 6" Cylinder. This little music box has the grand name of "Qualite Excelsior Superextra"! Also on the tune sheet is "ChU", which I haven't seen before but I think is Charles Ullman. Interesting effort at giving the customer lots of tunes, but musically the arrangements are of necessity very limited with the small cylinder. Complete with tune sheet with all twenty tunes! Interesting novelty. Very good original condition. $800.
ASH-19 Eight Tune Music Box with 11” Cylinder. Very good original condition. Original tune sheet has edge torn off. Double spring. Very pretty, no broken teeth, tune changer mechanism, plays very well. Zither. $1400. ASH-20 Music Box with 11” Cylinder. Older restoration. Zither. Loud, plays well, damper squeaks. No tune sheet. $1400
ASH-21
Music Box with 6” Cylinder. Decorative case. Restored, very
pretty sound. No tune sheet. $650.

ASH-23
Edison Amberola Cylinder Phonograph, Oak Style 30. This is
a nice example of the later internal horn Edison cylinder
phonographs. Nice original condition except for replacement grill
cloth (with a design, not appropriate), nick on left side of case
and about a 1” X 2” poor repair to the wood on the right side of
case. Running very sluggishly. $350
ASH-25 Edison “Standard” Model Cylinder Phonograph with Cygnet Horn and Crane. A little later than ASH-24, nice example and again with the very decorative and desirable cygnet horn and crane. Missing lid. Works. Cygnet horn does not “work” with this style reproducer setup and obviously the two do not go together, but a bargain nonetheless! $650. ASH-26 Edison “Standard” Model Cylinder Phonograph. Banner decal front, small brass and black horn. $425.
ASH-28 Columbia Disc Phonograph with 19” External Brass Horn. I believe this is the BI model. Pretty, decorative cabinet with bale handle in front, columns, and curved molding. Beautiful condition. [SOLD] ASH-29 Oak Victor Style V Disc Phonograph With Oak “Spear” Style Horn. These wood horn Victors are the most desirable of all, what a great looking machine! Someone decided to glue the metal end to the wooden horn and the glue ran/dribbled out – so now one has to very carefully clean up all the excess glue! The horn itself is in great condition. Fine original condition. [Sold]. ASH-30 Edison Oak Five Drawer Cylinder Cabinet with 124 Cylinders.
Nice original condition. Looks like all Amberola cylinders. No
sleeves. $875. (SOLD) ASH-31 Wurlitzer Model 1015 Jukebox. Yep, this is the “bubbler” from “Happy Days”. An all original example from the 1940’s, still on 78RPM records, has the coin mechanism and all, nice and very fun example! This is one of the very finest all original examples of the 1015 that I have seen – somebody must have done some cleaning and polishing to the case, but throughout it is in really fine condition.
